Son of John and Emma Bern.

Entered service Feb 26, 1918, Camp Dodge.

Transferred to Camp Logan; Camp Upton; first entered Co. F, 349th Inf., 88th Div.; member Co. E, 129th Inf., 33rd Div.

While in France; in battles of Verdun, Somme, Meuse, Argonne.
