Born April 1, 1892 at Chelsea, IA.

Son of Frank and Mary Berka.

Entered service Sep 21, 1917, Camp Dodge.

Transferred to Camp Cody and Camp Merritt; first entered Co. A, 133rd Inf.

Mustered out May 26, 1919, from Co. M, 125th Inf.

Member of Co. M, 125th Inf., 32nd Div. In battles of Aisne-Marne, Olse-Aisne, and Argonne-Meuse. Wounded by shell in the leg, in the battle of Oise-Aisne.

Sergeant.
