Training in US: NTS, Great Lakes, IL; Jacksonville, FL

Left for Sea Duty: Bremerton, WA; went aboard USS Brooklyn, Nov 11, 1939. Remained aboard until Apr 23, 1942. Next 11 mos spent at Jacksonville. Shipped to Port Layouty, French Morocco in March 1943. Went aboard the LST 355 at Oran, Algeria. After Salerno, made 5 return trips with supplies. To England, Nov 1943. Trained other personnel from other ships in gunnery. After Normandy made 45 return trips with supplies. Returned to Norfold, VA in May 1945, through Panama Canal to Pacific when war ended; to San Francisco, CA.

Engagements: Salterno Invasion, Sep 1943; Normandy Invasion, Jun 1944

Medals-Ribbons: Pre-Pearl Harbor, American Defense, European Defense.

Returned to US: San Francisco, CA in 1945

Discharaged: Minneapolis, MN on Sep 19, 1945. Rating: GM1/c

While aboard the USS Brooklyn, went to Hawaii, Midway Island, Tahiti, Samoa, New Zealand, Cuba Bermuda. Was in Bermuda when war started and was sent to partol off (writeup cut off here).
