Engagements: Pearl Harbor, Dec 7, 1941; Invasion of Bougainville, Nov 1, 1943; Gilberts and Marshalls Operations, Feb 1-24, 1944; Battle of Guam, Jul 21 to Aug 10, 1944; Raids on Tinian, Saipan, Guam, June 11-14, 1944; Saipan Invasion, Jun 15 to Jul 9, 1944

Hospitalized Overseas: 1 month for checkup after Pearl Harbor

On USS Murray (DD576) when it was torpedoed at Okinawa on Mar 25, 1944. Boarded Japanese submarine which had surrendered when peace was in sight, Aug 1, 1945. Received a commendation for outstanding service when ship was damaged.
