AMES - Gladys "Margaret" Jordan, 85, of Ames, died Thursday, February 9, 2006 at Rolling Green Village in Nevada, Iowa.

Margaret was born May 28, 1920 at Earlham, Iowa, the daughter of Carl W. and Mabel (Stanley) Cook. She attended schools at Bear Creek country school, Cambridge, Farrar, and graduated from high School in Shipley in 1937. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Jordan on April 24, 1938 at Princeton, Missouri. Except for two years at rural Earlham, her entire married life was spent on the farm in the Shipley area until moving to Nevada in September 1990 and then she and Lawrence moved into Nevada. Margaret had worked at Bourns for 14 years, had been a waitress at Spud-Nut in Ames, worked for Huxley Tire and Auto, and owned the Jordan Café in Huxley. She had been a 4-H Leader for many years. Margaret was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Nevada, where she had taught Sunday School and belonged to the UMW. She was also a member of the Airstream Club.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Lawrence, of Ames, Iowa; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Joyce (Jerold) Peterson of Ames, Iowa, Linda (Larry) Hansen of Dayton, Iowa; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Alma (Leroy) Rotschafer of Des Moines, Iowa.

Her parents, and a sister, Maxine Clarke, preceded Margaret in death.

Funeral services were held Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Nevada with Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Burial was at the Nevada Cemetery.

The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory of Nevada handled arrangements.
