TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, Thursday, February 9, 2006.

Betty Grace (Smith) Jones, 82, was born to Lyle and Mary Smith in Winterset, IA on May 15, 1923 and passed away on Tuesday the 31st of January at Sunnyview Care Center. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the Elkhart Christian Church with burial at Elkhart Cemetery.

Betty married Gene Jones on May 28, 1941 in Canton, Ohio. They would have celebrated their 65th anniversary this year. Betty was a retired underwriter from American Republic as well as a homemaker. The couple farmed in rural Elkhart for 51 years. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Betty is survived by her husband Gene of Elkhart, IA; her daughters, Karen (Wayne) Twedt of Huxley, IA and Kathie (Curt) Olenius of St. James, MN; a son, Dennis (Peggy) Jones of Davenport, IA; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Patricia Howell of Johnston, IA and Lyla Hillis of Corpus Christi, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Bernice Spence.
