TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Friday, February 3, 2006.
Lois Marie (Woods) Matters, 82, of Ames, died January 31, 2006, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Visitation will be held tomorrow from 4-6 p.m., at Unity Church of Ames, 9th and Kellogg, and from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, at Adams Funeral Home. Memorial services will be Saturday, February 4, at 2 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. Heather Withers of Unity Church officiating. Burial will be at Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Lois was born in Burlington, IA on July 13, 1923, to Samuel Fredrick and Blanche (Burkey) Woods. She lived in Ames all her adult life. She was a Cambridge High School graduate in 1940. She was a glass blower and worked in packaging at Hach Chemical before she retired.
She married Richard Matters in March of 1943 in Ames. She loved cats, reading, music, walking, gardening and table games
Immediate survivors include 2 daughters: Joyce Matters (Jim Prouty) of Ames, Merry Matters (John Magnuson) of Booneville, MO; a sister: Marvis "Jean" Spencer of Richfield, MN; 2 grandchildren: Jacob Magnuson of Colombia, MO, Emily Magnuson of Booneville, MO; and her beloved cats: Ringo, Timothy & Leo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband & infant brother.
Adams Funeral Home in Ames was entrusted with arrangements.
