THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, January 31, 2006.
Phyllis J. Wilson, 74, of Colo, died on Friday, Jan. 27, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the Colo United Methodist Church in Colo with Pastor James Rothe officiating. Burial will follow in the Colo Cemetery.
Phyllis was born on April 6, 1931, in Zearing to Charles and Lillian (Sharp) Jay. She was a 1948 Colo High School graduate. Phyllis married Richard "Short" Wilson on Sept. 30, 1951, in Nevada. She had been employed by the P & W Grocery Store in Colo. Phyllis was a member of the Colo United Methodist Church, Colo Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, church circle, Priscilla Club, and the Clover Leaf Club. She enjoyed cake decorating, playing bridge, fishing and being at the lake. Phyllis loved attending her grandchildren's sports activities.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Richard "Short" Wilson of Colo; three sons, Bob (Sharon) Wilson, Keith Wilson, and Merle (Pam) Wilson, all of Colo; a daughter, Ginny (Greg) Peters of Port Byron, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Pauline Andrew of Bondurant, Annabelle Burg of Ames, and Ardis Wilson of Colo.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Lester and Wayne Jay, and a sister Charlene Jay.
Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 30 with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.
A memorial fund has been established.
