TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, January 26, 2006.

Anna E. Wesenauer, 98, of Collins, died Thursday, January 19, 2006, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Anna was born November 22, 1907 at Collins, Iowa, the daughter of Bradford and Edith (Shearer) Stevens. Anna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was united in marriage to Ralph Moses in 1930 with whom she had three sons. Ralph died in 1939. She later married Rev. William Wesenauer in 1953. William died in 1970. Anna was a dedicated schoolteacher for 44 years. She started teaching in a one-room schoolhouse near Collins, and then taught at Monroe, State Center, Waterloo and later returned to Collins, retiring in 1982. After retiring from public school, she served as a home school certifier for a number of years.

Anna loved reading, making crafts, being with family, friends and her feline companions. She also enjoyed receiving and corresponding with students, church members, extended family and acquaintances. Anna was also a long time Sunday School teacher and Children's Church director in Waterloo. Anna was a member of the Nevada Baptist Church and the Joy Circle; a member of the Collins Auxiliary, the Garden Club, the Retired Teachers Association; and the Story County Senior Citizens. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit, strength and purpose in life will carry on with us all.

Anna is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law: John Richard (Beverly) Moses of Minneapolis, MN, Darrel (Joy) Moses of Mesa, AZ, Ralph Robert (Marilyn) Moses of Toledo, IA; a brother: Norman Stevens of Santa Barbara, CA; and a sister: Helen Adams of Fergus Falls, MN; 4 nieces and nephews: Marilyn (Irvin) Ailes of Hallwook, VA; Janet (Steve) Shields of San Diego, CA; Bob (Sandy) Adams of Bowling Green, KY; and Bill (Ginny ) Adams of Erhard, MN: 6 grandchildren: Brad (Debbie) Moses of Huxley; Tony (Barb) of Collins; Merridee (William) Isabelle of Nashville, TN; Jayne (Bob) Albrandt; Lori (Bob) Grant of Altoona; Steve (Anne) Moses of Northfield, MN; and 11 great grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a sister-in-law: Velma Stevens; and a brother-in-law: Ray Adams.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Dennis Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Collins Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Nevada Baptist Church.
