Russell D. Meier, 72, of rural Bouton, died Thursday, Jan. 19, at Dallas County Hospital in Perry. A memorial service was Monday, Jan. 23, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bouton. The Revs. Kenneth Ahntholz and David Lack officiated the service with Kristie Brown as organist. Burial was in People's Cemetery. A memorial has been established and contributions may be directed to the funeral home.
Russell was born March 11, 1933, in Bouton to Peter H. and Marie S. Bodansky Meier. He lived all of his life in rural Bouton as a farmer. He married Eleanore Johnson April 20, 1952, in Perry. His many memberships include St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served as deacon, trustee and treasurer. He was a trustee for Beaver Township and also served on the Fire Board, Bouton School Board, Perry Girl's Softball Association, the Woodward American Legion and the Dallas County FSA Board. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his youngest daughter, Carole Larson; and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanore Meier of rural Bouton; two daughters, Micelle Meier of Minneapolis and Holly Lester and her husband Peter of Ames; two grandchildren, Joey Lester and Meredith Larson; and one sister, Betty McFarland of Bouton.
