THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, January 1, 2006.

Bonita Peterson-Olsen, 80, of Slater died Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Madrid Nursing Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater and will be officiated by Rev. Heidi Williams with burial at Bethlehem Church Cemetery.

Bonita was born June 3, 1925, in Vincent, the first of eight children born to Carolyn (Sandvig) and Otto Hill.

Bonita received her R.N. degree from Iowa Lutheran Hospital in 1946. She married Donald Peterson in Duncombe on Nov. 27, 1946. Donald died in October of 1975. Bonita married Ralph Olsen in Ellsworth on July 8, 1978. Ralph died in September of 1982. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater, served on the board of trustees of Waldorf College and was among the founders of both the Slater Public Library and the Slater Historical Society.

Her family and friends remember her love of nature, her generous spirit and the loving warmth she extended to all who visited her home.

Bonita is survived by daughter Julie (Jack Wesley) Peterson of Brattleboro, Vt., and son Kris (Rita) Peterson of Huxley; two grandchildren, John and Carolyn Wesley of Brattleboro, Vt.; four sisters, Mary (Irving) Rosheim and Patricia Hill, both of Ames, Janice (Robert) Brothers of St. Charles, Ill., and Karen (Gary) Carr of Fort Dodge; three brothers, Conly (Donna) Hill of Buffalo, Minn., Jim (Mary Ellen) Hill of Dayton, Ohio, and Douglas (Patty Ann) Hill of Fort Dodge; Ralph's children, Patricia Yungclas of Webster City, and Neil Olsen of Blairsburg; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be after 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Services have been entrusted to Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home, Slater, 515-685-4431.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Friends of Slater Public Library and/or Slater Historical Society.
