Obituary - Edgar Denniston
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at the Giles Funeral home in Burlington for Edgar M. Denniston, 96, who died Sept. 11 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. M. Boyd, 1011 Harding avenue.
The final rites were conducted by Dr. Deane Chapman. There was a Masonic service, burial took place at the Aspen Grove cemetery.
Mr. Denniston was born Feb. 5, 1858 at Fallsburg, N.Y. He and his wife had been in Ames since 1952 when they came here from Burlington to make their. [sic] He had lived at Burlington for 51 years and worked in the Burlington pearl button industry until he was 94 years of age.
Mr. Denniston was a member of the Masons and Consistory, member of the Methodist church and of the Kaaba Shrine of Davenport.
His marriage to Mary Ellen Smith took place on Oct. 2, 1912 at Manchester. She survives him and is at the Boyd home.
Other survivors besides his wife and Mrs. Boyd are a son, L. B. of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Delia Taylor, Auburn, N. Y. and four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
