JOHN LARSON

John "Pete" Larson, 96, of Nevada, died Sunday, July 10, 1983 at the Story County Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 at the Memorial Lutheran Church, with Pastor Walter E. Lack officiating. Burial will be at the Nevada Cemetery.

Larson was born to Christian and Christina (Oleson) Larson on June 3, 1887 in Nevada. He was educated in the Nevada Schools, and spent most of his lifetime in the Nevada area.

He was married to Severie Hausken on June 24, 1914 near Roland. They had been married for 69 years. Larson was a farmer, carpenter and had worked for Iowa State University. He was a member of the Nevada Memorial Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Severie, four daughters, Viola Johnson of Zearing, Pearl Cooling of Cedar Rapids, Mickey Cessna of Cedar Falls and Darlene McDaniel of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Anna Paulson of Ames; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Fred, Walter, William, Albert and Hans, and a sister, Thelma Sorensen.

Visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 12 at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada.
