THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, December 4, 2005.

Kent (Michael) Carlisle, 63, of Ames passed away after a lengthy illness on Thursday, Dec. 1.

Michael was born the son of Roger and Alice Carlisle on May 23, 1942, in Bismarck, N.D. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1963.

Michael is survived by his wife, Shelley, and his mother, Alice Carlisle, of Ames; a sister, Andrea Carlisle of Portland, Ore.; a son, Brad Carlisle of Des Moines; a daughter, Kimberly Ceccarelli of Columbus, Ohio; and his best friends for over 40 years, Mike and Gail Pace of Des Moines. Michael had five grandchildren, Taylor, Jillian, Andrew, Timothy and Joseph, and one great grandchild, Alexis.

Michael worked for the National Animal Disease Lab in Ames for 38 years and will be remembered by many for his wild stories, a wonderful sense of humor, and his love of music and guitar.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Roger; a sister, Marla; and a brother, Bruce.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames with Pastor Robert Jackson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be given to the family, with a decision made at a later date, for a donation in Michael's memory.
