Charley Willard Adams
June 1, 1903, to Aug. 29, 1996Charley Willard Adams, 93, of Altoona and formerly of Maxwell, died of heart failure on Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Altoona Manor.
He was born to Elvin and Selina (Mosbey) Adams on June 1, 1903, in Moravia.
He married Mary Kitchen on March 31, 1928, in Story County. He had farmed and lived in and around Iowa Center until 1952. He had worked as a laborer for Des Moines Steel from 1951 to 1968, the year he retired. Before moving to Altoona, he had lived in Maxwell since 1924.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry L. Adams of Elkhart and Gerald Adams of Maxwell; one daughter, Ileda Elder of Loveland, Colo.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, in January of 1982; two infant sons; three brothers and one sister.
Graveside services were held Sunday, Sept. 1, at Woodland Cemetery, Iowa Center, with Pastor Larry French officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Center Cemetery Association, Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
