Marjorie La June Akers
May 1904-Feb. 26, 1993

Marjorie La June Akers, 88, of Ankeny formerly of Nevada, died of respiratory failure today at the Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny.

Memorial services will be held Friday at 1 pm. at the Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Earl Evans officiating. Interment will be held this spring in the Nevada Cemetery.

Marjorie Akers was born in Illinois to Spencer and Susan (Spitsnoggle) [should be Spitznogle] Akers. A resident of Nevada since the age of 6, she worked for the Donnelley Corporation for 45 years before retiring. She was a member of the Donnelley Retirement Club. She had lived in Ankeny for a year and a half.

She is survived by two nephews whom she raised, Clark Akers of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Max Akers of Des Moines, another nephew, Dewayne Briggs of Milan, Texas, and two nieces, Darlene Quick of West Des Moines and Beverly Landers of Las Vegas, Nev.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

The Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
