Allen James Ewing

Funeral services for Allen James Ewing, 50, of R.R. 2, Story City, Iowa, were held Wednesday, Feb 6 at 11 a.m. from the First Assembly of God Church at 13th Street and Burnett in Ames.

Jim passed away Monday, Feb. 4, at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.

He was born August 29, 1929, in Story City, Iowa, the son of Al and Agnes Ewing and was the foster son of Annas and Ragnhild Jacobson of rural Story City. He attended the Story City Schools, followed by eleven years in the military service, including time in Japan, Korea and Germany.

He was employed by Marshall County Milk Co-op in Marshalltown several years. Prior to his illness in 1978, he was employed by Cooper's Mill in Ames.

Jim moved back to Story City in 1975 where he resided until his death.

Survivors include his wife, Vergie; four children, Kenneth stationed at the Naval Base in San Diego, California; Mrs. Gerry Downs (Debra) of Marshalltown; Douglas of Randall and Mrs. Daniel Speas (Diane) of Ogden, Iowa; and one grandson, Joshua Ewing. Also his foster mother, Ragnhild Jacobson of Bethany Manor in Story City; two half-brothers, Earl Gibson of Shell Rock and David Gibson of Guttenberg; a half-sister, Jeanette Wattles of Ingraham, Illinois; a foster brother, Arnold Jacobson of Story City, and two foster sisters, Connie Quail and Ruth Ardell Maness of California.
