At the services in the church Rev. Bergeman read the following obituary:

Mrs. Andrew Bickelhaupt, whose maiden name was Mary Marie Baker, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Levi Oathal Baker at North Platte, Neb., March 3, 1897. While still a young child she, with her parents, moved to Greeley, Colo., where they lived for several years. Some thirty years ago the family moved to the state of Iowa, and located in the city of Des Moines, where she grew to womanhood.

She was married to Mr. Andrew Bickelhaupt on the 31st day of August, 1932, and immediately thereafter came with her husband to Story City to live on the farm occupied by them about five miles west of town. She was a splendid homemaker, reflecting a taste for beauty and careful management in all of her domestic affairs and endeavors. She was a very kind-hearted companion of sterling quality, and a very good neighbor.

While living in Des Moines she united with the Capitol Hill Church of Christ, and upon her removal to Story City transferred her membership to the Grace Evangelical church, where she was an honored and highly respected member. She endeavored to live an exemplary Christian life. Of her it must be said that she was faithful to the end. She was also a member of the Royal Daughters Sunday school class and of the local Ladies' Aid society, in which organizations she manifested a splendid interest.

She was very active as a homemaker until she was overtaken by her last illness. Her condition was not considered as being alarming until she submitted to a surgical operation about two months ago, when the seriousness of her sickness became apparent. Thereafter she grew gradually weaker despite all that medical skill and loving hands were able to do. She passed peacefully away at the family home on Thursday afternoon, August 28, 1941, at the age of 44 years, 5 months and 25 days.

She is survived by her sorrowing companion; a step-father; four brothers, who are Everett Baker, Claude Baker, Levi Baker and Ray Baker, all of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. L. T. Cook of Des Moines; and a step-brother, Chas. Russell, also of Des Moines, besides other relatives and many friends.
