Alice Swenson

Alice Swenson, 94, of Story City, died of heart failure on Sunday, July 22, 2001 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City with Rev. Stephen Anenson officiating. Burial will be in the Story City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Alice Swanson was born Feb. 23, 1907 to Oliver and Julia (Severeid) Alsager. She married Lester Swenson on June 21, 1928. She lived in Roland until 1970 when she moved to Story City. She moved to Colonial Manor in Amana two years ago. Alice was a homemaker and helped her husband operate Swenson Hardware in Roland for several years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son, David Swenson of Nashville, Tennessee; a daughter, Beverly Wiese of Cedar Rapids; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 16, 1986; a daughter, Nancy Kilstofte Bergland; a son, Gary Swenson; and sisters, Helen Duff, Lillian Alsager, Olive Alsager and Dorothy Manor.
