MRS. JOHN SUNNOE
Elizabeth Marie Satre was born in Clear Lake township, Hamilton county, Oct. 3rd, 1870 and passed away June 24, 1949 at her home in Story City at the age of 73 years, 8 months, 21 days, after an illness of nearly nine weeks.
Her parents, Ingebrit and Sigrid Satre, Norwegian pioneers, who came to Hamilton county in the early summer of 1870, preceded her in death, as did 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, to which she remained true.
On March 4, 1890, she was united in marriage to John Sunnoe. To this union were born 13 children, 3 sons and 10 daughters: Selma of Eugene, Ore., Sophie of Rake, Ruth of Thompson, Irvin of Frost, Minn., Viola of Austin, Minn., Josephine of Slater, Joe and Emma of Jewell, and Oscar, Mae, Hilma, Aileen and Margaret of Story City.
She has always been a faithful and active member of her church. Her main interests in life were her home, her children and her church.
Mrs. Sunnoe leaves to mourn her death, her husband and 13 above named children; 34 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; also 5 sisters, Mrs. R. M. Madison, Hollandale, MInn.; Mrs. R. Rasmusson and E. O. Madson of Story City, Mrs. Conrad Streuber of Jewell, and Mrs. Inger Holmes of Des Moines; and three brothers, John and Embert of Stanhope and Emil of Jewell.
She has been a faithful member of Immanuel church for the past 30 years, and was a wonderful wife and mother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 27, in the home at 1:30 followed by the service in Immanuel church, with Rev.A. O. Skibsrud officiating. Lillian Alsager sang two solos, "Den Store Hvide Flok" and "My Jesus, I Love Thee."
Pall bearers were Stanley Rasmusson, Alvin Anderson, Donald Streuber, Joseph Holmes, Vernal Satre and Ingram Madson, all nephews of Mrs. Sunnoe. Interment was in the Story City cemetery. Memorial gifts amounting to $500 were given in her memory.
