THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, November 29, 2005.

Michael Blaess, 59, of Ankeny, died Thursday, Nov. 24, at his home, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services were Monday, Nov. 28, at Ankeny Funeral Home.

Michael was born Nov. 20, 1946, in Ames to George and Maxine Blaess. He was a member of VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Blaess; two daughters, Dana (Lance) Schmitt and Sara Blaess; one son, David (Elyssa) Baless; one sister, Julie (Craig) Sutherland; three grandchildren, Isaak and Ella Schmitt, and Makenzie Payne; his mother-in-law, Lorena Bullington; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends and co-workers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Maxine Blaess; and one sister, Marilyn Barnes.
