Kathryn Lekwa

Kathryn Ruth Lekwa, 94, Story City, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1991, at Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 10:30 .m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City, with burial in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Pastor Rolfe Johnstad will officiate at the services.

Kathryn was born April 10, 1897, in Thornburg, Iowa, to Wilson D. and Emma Catherine (Young) Ogden. She was a graduate of Thornburg High School and of Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines in 1921. She married Dr. A. H. Lekwa on June 11, 1924, in Des Moines. She assisted her husband in surgeries and deliveries, residing in Dows until moving to Story City in 1931. She was a member of the Sorosis Club and St. Petri Quilters.

Survivors include one son, Robert Lekwa, of Story City; two daughters, Marilyn Lekwa of Story City and Jean (Mrs. Ernest) Sansgaard of Lincoln, Nebraska; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband on July 11, 1970, two sisters, Margaret Ogden Brown and Elizabeth Ogden, four brothers, Henry, Irvin, Charles and Hurley Ogden, and one great- grandson, Nathan Lekwa.

Visitation will be at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home after 3 p.m. on Tuesday with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
