OBITUARY
JOEL JACOBSON
Joel Theodore Jacobson, Route 2, Story City, Iowa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Jacobson, was born November 21st, 1918, in Franklin Township of Story County and died of cancer at the Story Memorial hospital, March 20, 1963 at the age of 44 years and four months.
He was baptized by the Rev. Naglestad of Ellsworth and confirmed by the Rev. W. B. Scarvie at St. Petri Lutheran Church.
On February 21, 1943 he was united in marriage to Eva V. Adams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Adams and the late Mrs. Adams of Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Mr. Jacobson had farmed in the Story County area all of his life except for one year in Fort Dodge. He also was employed for four years at the James Thompson Construction Co., and the last two years at the Atomic Research Commission in Ames.
He is survive by his wife, Eva; a daughter, Lynn Marie, and a son, Steven Adams, both at home; his father, Theodore; and one sister, Mrs. (Maxine) Bill Dodds of Ames, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Agnes Ersland Jacobson of in 1961.
He was a member of the 4-H and the Junior Farm Bureau. He was active in the St. Petri Lutheran church, serving as recorder for the KASI Sunday services broadcast and was a past president of the 70 Club.
Funeral services were held at St. Petri Lutheran church, Story City, Saturday, March 23, 1963 with the Rev. George C. Strum officiating. The Senior Choir sang "Love of God" by Mozart, and Mr. David Greedy sang, "The Lord's Prayer." Mrs. Alfred Jacobson was organist.
Pall bearers were his first cousins Earl Askelson, Emery Tegland, LeRoy Tegland, Lawrence Jacobson, James Jacobson and Leslie Jacobson.
