Sylvia T. Grinde

Sylvia Theodora Grinde, 96, of Story City, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1993 at Bethany Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Manor Chapel with Rev. John Wogsland and Rev. Ron Feuerhak officiating. Music was provided by Arlie Swenson, organist. Ruth Larson sand, "He Touched Me." The congregation sand, "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "Nearer My God to Thee." Casket bearers were Clark Grinde, Robert Krough, Malcom Evers, Scott Stephens, Anthony Kashinskie and Tom Courtney. Burial as in the Story City Cemetery.

Sylvia Theodora Grinde, the daughter of Bertil and Britta (Skein) Grinde, was born May 5, 1897. She was a lifetime resident of Story City and a lifetime member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Story City. Sylvia worked in the Food Service Department of Iowa State University for almost 30 years. She entered the Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City six years ago.

Survivors include one nephew, Robert Krough of Story City, and four nieces, Barbara Evers of Chandler, Arizona, Elsie Kannegeiter of Aplington, Joanne Schneider of Lockport, Illinois and Barbara Courtney of Palos Park, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Tom and Martin Grinde; and three sisters, Hazel Krough, Julia Lura and Johanna Grinde.
