Mamie Christiansen

Mamie K. Christiansen, 91, died after a lengthy illness on Saturday, Nov. 12, 1983, at Northcrest Retirement Community in Ames. Services were held at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames. The Rev. Les Gyllstrom was in charge. Burial was in charge. Burial was at the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Mamie Christiansen was born June 4, 1892, in Story City to Christian E. and Ingeborg (Sorensen) Christiansen. She graduated from Story City High School. She attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa. She taught sixth grade science in Story Cit and Mason City. She retired in 1957 and moved to Ames from Mason City. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and Bethesda Lutheran Church Women.

Survivors include four nephews, Bob Christiansen, Huxley, Irvin Christiansen, Slater, Charles Christiansen, Huxley and Clarence Christiansen, Jesup, and niece, Ella Crow, Hollister, Calif.

She was preceded in death by two brother, Sern and Charles and a sister, Ida Christiansen.
