Mildred Arline Johnston, 83, of Zearing, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Zearing, where she had been a resident for the last seven years.

Mildred was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Eldora to Guy and Clara (Blair) Clatterbuck. She married Dale Johnston on June 6, 1942, in Princeton, Mo. She was a life-long resident of Zearing and was a homemaker, housewife and mother. She was a member of the Zearing Christian Church for 83 years, the Zearing Legion Auxiliary Unit #116 and the Zearing Coffee Club. She loved to knit, sew, cook and bake.

Mildred is survived by two daughters, Beth Dodds of Zearing and Judi Nessa and her husband Terry of Huxley; two sons, Bruce Johnston and his wife Lyn of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jeff Johnston and his wife Joyce of rural St. Anthony; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Dale Johnston on Nov. 28, 1997.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 14, at the Zearing Christian Church. Burial was in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing. Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing was in charge of arrangements.
