THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, November 15, 2005.

M. Catherine "Cathy" Sturtz, 70, of Boone, died Sunday, Nov. 13, at Boone County Hospital in Boone. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, Fifth and Story streets, in Boone, with Father Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Cathy was born on Sept. 23, 1935, in Cedar Rapids to William Henry and Burdean Louise (Harlan) Weichman. She attended school in Des Moines. She had lived in Boone since 1960. She married Eugene D. Davis Aug. 23, 1952, in Mercer County, Princeton, Mo. She later married Eldon W. Sturtz June 14, 1980, in Boone. She was a homemaker and worked as a certified nurses assistant at Ledges Manor Nursing Home. She then worked at Iowa State University as a supervisor in the Dish Room in Friley Hall for 15 years. She retired in 1992. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Boone. She enjoyed watching soaps, crocheting, scrap booking and collecting the Dickens Christmas collectables.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son-in-law, Randy Walker; and one sister, Joanne Krumm.

She is survived by her children, Eugene "Joe" Davis and his wife, Diane, of Grand Junction, Lorraine Walker of Boone, Tony Davis and his wife, Susan, of Tampa, Fla., Burdean McNace and her husband, Jim, of Boone and Mary Burgar and her husband, Joel, of Boone; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home in Boone with the family present from 6 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at its discretion.

Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home in Boone, is in charge of arrangements.
