Scott Owen Barnett, 35, of Boone and formerly of Ames, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at the Mercy Medical Center of Des Moines.
Scott was born on March 28, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Dean and Gloria (Milton) Barnett. He graduated from Ames High School in 1988. Scott attended a two-year program at DMACC to receive his Associated Applied Arts Degree in Tool and Die. He graduated from DMACC in 1990, He then started working for Composite Tech as a machinist and as a tool and die maker. He pursued his passion with custom building and custom tool work designing motorcycles, Scott was a talented extreme machinist and an all out craftsman. Scott took pride in making functional designs, creating a natural flow to the project at hand.
In 2000 he moved to Boone from Ames. Scott married Bonnie Lee Bushore on March 15, 2001, in Ames. Scott and Bonnie were members of the Iowa Dressage and Combined Training Association, The Ogden Saddle Club, Iowa Trail Riders Associations. The couple shared their interest in riding horses together.
Scott is preceded in death by his son, Colt Shannen.
Scott is survived by his wife, Bonnie Lee Barnett, of Boone, Iowa; his daughter, Blaisze Mackenzie; his son, Cade Scott; his daughter, Trinitie Raine all of Boone; his mother, Gloria Barnett, of Ames; his parents, Dean and Jeanne Barnett, of Evansville, Ind.; his brother, Brett Barnett and his wife Collette, of Independence; his brother, John Barnette and his wife Roxanne, of San Antonio, Texas; his brother, Sam Barnett, of Evansville, Ind.; his father-in-law, Major, Bruce B. Bushore Sr.; his four nieces, Lindsay and Kelsie, of Independence, and Lauren and Samantha, of San Antonio, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., tonight, Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Palestine Lutheran Church on Highway 210 near Huxley. Rev. Donald Dovre will officiate.
Visitation will be held on today, Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Palestine Lutheran Church on Highway 210 near Huxley from 1-7 p.m., with the family present at the church to greet friends from 4-6 p.m.
Following the funeral service, the body will be cremated and disposition of the cremated remains will be at a later date.
A memorial will be established for Scott's children at the South Story Bank and Trust in Huxley.
