OBITUARY

MALINDA H. EIDE

Malinda H. Eide was born on April 14, 1857, in Des Moines, Iowa, and died at her home in Story City August 13, 1943, at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 29 days. She had lived in Story City for 47 years.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

She was united in marriage to Ole Lewison on December 223, 1880. To this union six children were born. Two daughters, Julia and Mrs. Anna Erickson, preceded her in death, and her first husband passed away November 8, 1900. The children surviving this union are Bert of Des Moines, Ed of Denver, Colo., Theodore of New Hampton and Ollie at home; also 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

On March 5, 1911, she was united in marriage to Lars L. Eide. She is also survived by eight step-children, as follows: Martin, Louis, Mrs. Bertha Paulson, Mrs. Minnie Paulson and Mrs. Rebecca Sylvester, all of Brainerd, Minn., Tom of Estherville, Ben and Mrs. Ellen Bailey of Marshalltown; 32 step-grandchildren and 23 step-great grandchildren.

Two sisters are left to mourn her passing; Mrs. Sarah Bygness of Eagle Grove and Mrs. Betsy Thompson of Brainerd, Minn. Three brothers, Ole, Lewis and Henry Heggen, have preceded her in death.

Mrs. Eide has been a member of Immanuel Lutheran church for over forty years, also a member of the Ladies Aid.

Blessed be her memory.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 18, at the home and in the Immanuel church, with Rev. Peder Buland officiating in the place of the pastor, Rev. Heimarck, who was absent from the city. Miss Lillian Alsager sang two selections. The casket bearers were six nephews, namely: Ole and Eddie Bygness, Lester and Bernard Severeide, Tjernan Heggen and Theo. Heggen.

Among those from a distance at the funereal were the following: Mrs. Torkel Thompson, Mrs. Henry Albertson, Mrs. Alvin Nelson, Mrs. Amil Paulson, Mrs. Rebecca Sylvester and daughter Cleta, all of Brainerd, Minn.; Mrs. Sarah Bygness, Jeffrey Bygness and Mrs. Ray Bailey of Eagle Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Ole Bygness of Goldfield; Olive and Gertrude Heggen and Mr. ane Mrs. Tjernan Heggen and Allen of Renwick; Mr. and Mrs. Perry Bailey and Mr. and Mrs. Perry Bailey and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Eide of Marshalltown; Mrs. Luella Owens of Tama; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lewison and Eddie Larmer, Evelyn Bygness, Mrs. Inga White, Mrs. Valney Twiselton, Roy and Mable Eide, all of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Severeide of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. L. T. Lewison of New Hampton; Mrs. E. H. Lewison of Denver, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Heggen, John Erickson, Mrs. Harvey Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. A. Christopherson, all of Ames; Mrs. H. A. Stratton, all of Ames; Mrs. H. A. Stratton of Carroll; Mrs. Ole Brendeland and John and Mrs. Larson of Huxley.
