From Story City Herald October 14, 1937 (page 7)

MRS. OLE CHARLSON

Mrs. Ole Charlson (nee Anna Serina Knutson) was born at Aabo, Sevde parish, Norway, on Sept. 4, 1851, and passed away at the Old People's Home at Story City, Iowa Sept. 30, 1937, at the ae of 86 years and 26 days.

At the age of 11 years she came with her parents, Christian Knutson Teig and Anna Thorson Holland, to America. For two years the family made their home at Morris, Ill., after which they settled on the old Aabo homestead, where Theodore Carpenter now lives, 3 miles southeast of Randall. At this old homestead Mrs. Anna Charlson spent her girlhood days.

At the age of 18 years she was united in marriage to Ole Charlson (Karolussen). The young couple made their home on the old Charlson homestead 3 1/2 miles northeast of Randall. At this homestead Mrs. Charlson spent the greater part of her life. The last 4 years she has been living at the Old People's Home in Story City.

She became the mother of eight children: Carl of Grafton, N. D., Christian of Minneapolis, Annas of Big Falls, Minn., Henry, deceased, Mrs. Henrietta Knudson of Jewell, Oscar of Randall, Mrs. Anna Branjord of New Richmond, Wis., and Elizabeth Olson, deceased.

Mrs. Charlson's husband died in 1911. She leaves to mourn her departure six children, 22 grandchildren, a sister, Malinde Knutson Aabo of Story City, and a brother, Tom Knutson of Portland, Oregon.

Mrs. Knutson was a bright woman, a kind wife and mother, and a sound Christian of the old type. She was a faithful church member in word and deed, and a worthy example for her children and others to follow. She was a charter member of Elim church at Randall. With the exception of a short period, she was a member of this church from childhood. For this church she prayed and worked. Now as she has left us we are glad to believe that she had joined the church triumphant above, where she awaits her dear ones. God grant that her prayers be fulfilled.

Funeral services were held Monday from Elim Lutheran church in Randall at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. G. O. Paulsrud. At the service a solo was sung by Harris Twedt, "God Will Take Care of You," and the mixed quartet, Mrs. P. G. Pederson, Mrs. Clarence Larson, J. H. Brekken and S. M. Teigland, sang one song. Burial was made in the East cemetery.--Cor.
