THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, November 1, 2005.
Darrell Wayne McIntosh, 73 of Boone and formerly of Nevada, died Saturday, Oct. 29, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 at United Methodist Church of Colo with the Rev.Steve Williams officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Colo Legion Post No. 139 in Colo Cemetery.
Darrell was born July 29, 1932, in Ames to Robert Earl and Gladys (Granger) McIntosh. He was a 1951 graduate of Colo High School. He joined the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and served on the USS St. Paul, CA No. 73 as a radioman. He married Shirley Sparks Oct. 13, 1956, at United Methodist Church of Colo. They lived in Nevada until they moved to Boone in 1979. He retired from U.S. West in 1994. He was an avid Hawkeye fan. Hewas a member of First United Methodist Church in Nevada, I Club, Telephone Pioneer Club and the Nevada Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed refurnishing antiques.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley McIntosh of Boone; two sons, Kelly McIntosh of Unadilla, Neb., and Dylan McIntosh of Hastings, Minn.; one daughter, Rebecca Harrison of Allen, Texas; one brother, Clare McIntosh of Runnells; three sisters, Wilma McIntosh of Des Moines, Dorothy Olson of Keota and Helen Bradshaw of Ames; and seven grandchildren, Marshall and Grant Harrison, Meghan, Ryan, Keegan, Gillian and Kalli McIntosh.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Harriet Hamilton.
Visitation will be today with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.
A memorial fund has been established for First United Methodist Church Building Fund in Nevada.
