THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, October 27, 2005.

Donald Arthur Rieck was born Oct. 5, 1941, near Hawkeye to Arthur H. and Elnora A. Rieck, and died Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames at age 64. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in St. John's Cemetery, Sumner.

Don recently retired after working as director of the instructional technology center at Iowa State University for 25 years. He also was executive director for the consortium of college and university media centers. He was active in many professional media organizations and served his church in many capacities.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne of Ames; two daughter, Jenifer and husband, Jim, Leiding of Ames and Rebecca and husband Dave, McElroy, of Sioux Falls, S.D., two granddaughter, Jillian Leiding and Mara McElroy; his mother, Elnora Rieck of Sumner; two sisters, Elaine and husband, Dan, Jorgensen of Audubon and Sharon and husband, Don, Tisue of Sumner; five brother s, Dave and wife, Pat, Rieck of Iowa City, Arlin and wife, Marcia, Rieck of Sumner, Gary and wife, Jan, Rieck of Waverly, Tom and wife, June, Rieck of Fredericksburg and Kevin and wife, Kelly, of New Hampton; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Rieck, and one nephew, David Jorgensen.
Memorials may be directed to Israel Family Hospice House in Ames and Bethesda Lutheran Church.
