OBITUARY
Mr. Erick S. Thorson was born at Severeide, in Skaanevig, Norway, October 11, 1859, and died at his home in Story City, Feb . 1, 1919, being thus 59 years, 4 months old at the time of his demise.
He immigrated to America in 1882 settling in Kendall county, Illinois. There he met Gjertrud Jensdatter Vaagen, to whom he was married Jan. 15, 1885. Eight children were born to this union, six of whom, with the wife, survive him. The surviving children are: Mrs. Lewis O. Hauge of Randall, Mrs. John M. Hauge of Story City, Mrs. Albert Boyd of Ballaton, Minn., Thor Thorson of Blue Earth, Minn., Milo Thorson of Story City and Ira Thorson of Swea City. All the children were present at the funeral except Mrs. Boyd, who was prevented from coming by sickness in her family.
Mr. Thorson and his family moved from Illinois to Iowa in 1908, settling on his farm near Randall, where they lived until 1915, when he and his wife moved to Story City. Here they lived happy and contented in their new residence. Something over a year ago Mr. Thorson suffered a severe injury from a fall out of a tree, and he has not been very well since. Death came to him before he had become old, but he was ready to meet his Saviour, and he has only gone on before to await the coming of his loved ones.
