OBITUARY
Miss Ione Bell was born near Bement, Ill., Aug. 2, 1884, and died at the home of her father, Frank M. Bell of Gilbert, Ia., Jan. 25, 1919, aged 34 years, 5 months and 23 days.
With her parents she came to Iowa, where the family settled on a farm near Gilbert, in 1904, and with the exception of two years spent in Nebraska this has been her home all these years.
She was but sixteen years of age when she gave herself to active Christian work, and united with the church. She then began a work which was to extend into all lines of church activities, and made her one of the most active members of society and church work, her interest never growing cold or indifferent. In the Sunday school she has been a most excellent worker and teacher, much beloved by people many years older than she, who loved her as a teacher and the inspiration she brought to her work. A leader in the young people's society, she has served many years as president and did the society especially great service as corresponding secretary. She was also one of the deaconesses of the church and was always found faithful to every call of duty assigned her.
Ione Bell was a great lover of the home and since the death of her mother she had more than ever given herself to the task of making home pleasant for her father. In this she spared not herself, but dedicated herself to the task of lifting every burden possible, and filling the full measure of a loving devotion to her father.
The loss of her mother and brother in the fall of 1916 came as a great shock to her, but it was then that the strength of her faith and hope were manifested. Through all her trials her faith seemed only stronger in Him in whom she believed and confidently believed and was able to keep that which she had committed unto Him. Thus when the end was drawing near she had no fears. Her only concern expressed was for others. She leaves a father, and on brother, H. R. Bell of Gilbert. There are also a host of loving friends to mourn her loss. She lives in their hearts, an inspiration to the highest and best things in life.
The funeral was conducted from the Congregational church by her pastor, Rev. Wissler in charge, on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment in the Gilbert cemetery.
