THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, October 19, 2005.

Robert "Bob" Kriegel, 78, of Collins, died Monday, Oct. 17, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell.

Bob was born Jan. 23, 1927, in Marshalltown, the son of Fred and Jenny (Flint) Kriegel. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1944 and then served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Nelda Elliott May 26, 1950, in Collins. He worked at Maytag in Newton and retired in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion Freland-Carver Post No. 81 of Collins, and the State Center Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Nelda of Collins; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Guy Charles Kriegel of Collins, and Gilbert and Carol Hennick of Collins; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother: Fritz Kriegel of Billings, N.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Donald, in infancy, Melvin and Jerry.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:30 to 8 tonight at Bacon Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Collins Evergreen Cemetery.

Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is in charge of arrangements.
