Obituary

MRS. H. E. MYRAH

Betsey Olena Hegland was born April 5, 1869 and passed away Feb. 11, 1953, at the age of 83 years. She was married to Halvor E. Myrah January 4, 1889.

To this union were born seven children, six of whom survive her: Susie of St. Paul, Minn., Halvor of Port Au Peck, N. J., Obed of Eureka Springs, Ark., Bessie (Mrs. E. G. Wiggin) of Story City; Donald of Summit, N. J.; Thelma (Mrs. George McNerney) of St. Paul, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away in January, 1933, and her oldest daughter, Vivian (Mrs. Martin Eggland) in June, 1943.

Mrs. Myrah was the oldest of ten children born to Ole and Ingeborg Hegland, early pioneers of Story county. She had lived almost her entire life in this county and the last 36 in Story City. For the last 12 years she made her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Wiggin.

There are four sisters surviving, Mrs. Louise Rasmussen of Story City, Mrs. Anna Hansen, Mrs. Sara Enlow and Agnes Hegland, all of Nevada; also twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Myrah was a member of the Immanuel church and had been an active member of the ladies aid of the church until the last year when she had been confined to the house due to the infirmities of old age.

Funeral services were held Saturday in Immanuel church following a prayer service at the Larson-Peterson home with Rev. Ivar Havneros officiating. Burial was in the Roland cemetery.

Wiggin III and son of Westfield, Ind.; Mrs. L. E. Overland and Wanda Wiggin of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. C. A. Peters of Barrington, Ill.; Cadet Hal H. Myrah of West Point, N. Y.; Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Hadley, Mrs. Anna Hansen, Mrs. Sara Enlow and Miss Agnes Hegland and Mrs. Oliver Wicks of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Tesdal of Slater; Otis Boyd, Mr. and Mrs. Don Boyd, Mrs. Malinda Grove, Albert Eggland, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Eggland and Sam Eggland, all of Roland.
