MRS. MARVICK WAS BORN IN ILLINOIS

Funeral of Well Known Story City Woman Was Held Here Last Week

The funeral of Mrs. Mary Mathre Marvick, whose death occurred in Minneapolis Sept. 24, was held in Story City on Wednesday, Sept. 27, the service bring held in the Immanuel church, with Rev. T. T. Heimarck officiating. Miss Alsager sang two selections, and the casket was borne by Lloyd and Iver Lund, Herbert Donhowe, Albert, Tom E. and Tilford Mathre. Among those from a distance at the funeral were Olaf Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Scott of Clarion, and Mrs. Magrete Marvick-Anderson of Huxley.

Obituary

Mrs. Mary Mathre Marvick was born in Kendall county, Illinois, July 28, 1856, and died in Minneapolis, Minn., Sept. 24, 1933, at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 27 days. She had been sick for about a year.

She was married to Martin O. Marvick March 15, 1878, and they lived on a farm in Illinois for five years. In the spring of 1883 they moved to Grand Forks, N. D., and four years later to Story City, which was their home for over thirty years. In 1918 they moved to farm near Kenyon, Minn., and in 1921 to Minneapolis, which has been their home ever since.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, two daughter (Linnie and Mrs. Emelia House) and two sons, Albert of Chugwater, Wyo., and S. L. of Northwood; also four grandchildren (Marian and Helmer House of Minneapolis and Morris and Dwayne Marvick), two sisters, Mrs. Alice Lund and Mrs. Julia Lund, and three brothers, Tom Mathre of Story City, S. L. Mathre of Stanhope and Martin Mathre of Denver, Colo. All the children except Albert, were present at the funeral.

Rev. Heimarck, in his funeral sermon, mentioned Mrs. Marvick's genial disposition, which made her many friends in every place she resided, and there were a great number at the funeral who could bear testimony to the truth of the statement. She was a faithful wife, a kind neighbor, a genial friend, a good mother and her loved ones will miss her greatly and friends long bear her in fond remembrance.
