OBITUARY

Morten Johnson

Morten Johnson was born in Vindelev, Denmark, March 11, 1849. He married Anna K. Mathison and shortly afterward came to America, and located near Story City, Iowa, where he resided for many years. His wife departed this life in 1902, leaving six children surviving to that union, two, Annie and Emma, having preceded her in death.

In the year 1904 he married Anna K. Nielsen, also of Denmark, to which union two children were born, Leva and Alice.

In 1912 he moved to Oklahoma where he lived on a his farm until 1920, when he, with his family moved to Edmond, Okla., where he died on Feb 23, 1920, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 12 days, leaving to mourn his departure a loving and devoted wife, and eight children Leva and Alice of Edmond, Okla., Mathias, John M., Augusta Doolittle and Mathilda Paulson of Story City, Mary Lane of Des Moines and Sena Johnson of Kalispell, Mont. He also leaves two brothers, Nels Jensen of Story City and Carl Jensen of Denmark, Europe, two sisters, Karen Jensen of Des Moines and Mrs. Chris Larson of Nevada, Iowa. He left 24 grandchildren and 5 great grand-children and a host of friends, all of whom will remember him as a loving husband, father and friend.

He endured his months of great suffering with patience. Rev. Byron Smith of Edmond, visited him almost every day during the last weeks of his life and greatly lightened his burden during the hours of great physical suffering, but during which time his faith in his Lord Jesus was secure and he looked at eternity with confidence as a haven of rest, where there would be no suffering. Rev. Smith declared he never saw a man with stronger faith in his Savior. May his soul rest in peace.
