OBITUARY OF MR. HOUGHLAND

Well-known Gilbert Man Was a Native of Denmark.

Gilbert, Nov. 11--Nels J. Houghland was born at Houghland, Norway, January 18, 1838, died November 7th, 1918, at Gilbert, Iowa, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Anderson at the age of 81 years and made this community his home until death. He leaves to mourn his death is wife, three daughters and one son twenty-two grandchildren, one brother Jacob O. Jacobson and a host of other relatives and friends. He had been a member of the Lutheran church all his life and died a true and devoted christian. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Helmarck from the home of his daughter and the remains were laid to rest in the South St. Peter cemetery.
