FUNERAL OF TOM NAGEL
Former Palestine Township Boy Laid to Rest in Palestine Cemetery Saturday
From the Palestine church on Saturday afternoon took place the funeral service over the remains of Tom Nagel, former Palestine township boy, who died in Wisconsin on January the 29th. The services were in charge of Rev. Buland, assisted by Lewis Malmin. Music was furnished by the choir. Burial was made in the Palestine cemetery.
Deceased was a former Story county boy, being born January 1, 1876, on the old Nagel homestead in Palestine township. He grew to manhood in these parts and was well known to our middle aged people. He was married March 4, 1915*, and lived for a while in this vicinity, afterwards. The past four years he has lived in Wisconsin. He was sick two weeks, the victim of pleurisy trouble, which developed complications which necessitated an operation but it was to no avail.
He is survived by his wife and a stepson. Also a sister Mrs. Anna Knutson, of Jewell, and a brother, Severt Nagel, of near Kelley.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According to his marriage record, Tom Nagel, son of Ben Nagel and Christine Schuson married Rachel Anderson, daughter of Andrew Anderson and Maggie Iverson in Boone, Boone County, Iowa on 3 March, 1915.
