DEATHS

Mrs. Petra Steensland

Petra C. Steensland was born in Bergen, Norway on July 26, 1882 to parents Engel and Kathryn Handeland.

On Oct. 2, 1901 she was united in marriage to Sam Steensland. Ten children were born to this union. The family lived in the Huxley community most of their life.

Mrs. Steensland died at the Mary Greeley Hospital on March 6, 1972 at the age of 89 years.

Survivors are five sons, Ernest of Roland, Everett and Tilman of Huxley, Clarence S. and Alvin of Slater; three daughters, Selma Thompson of Cambridge, Freda Osting of Huxley and Gladys Rorabaugh of Oswego, Kans.; 23 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1954; a daughter Hilda in 1967 and five brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church. Pastor Marvin E. Nygard officiated. Mrs. Edward Larson, soloist sang "In the Garden" and "Rock of Ages." She was accompanied by Mrs. Jacob Lee at the organ.

Pall bearers were Greg Steensland, Mike Steensland, Gary Osting, LaVern Thompson, Richard Steensland and Loren Myers.
