SUDDEN DEATH OF SVEN CARLSON

Died Very Suddenly Monday Afternoon While Out in the Field Husking Corn. Had Not Been Sick.

Our people were deeply shocked Monday afternoon when the sad news reached town, telling of the sudden death of Mr. Sven Carlson of southeast of town while he was in the field husking corn. He had partaken of a hearty dinner and had gone to the field afterwards, complaining of no illness. Wier T. Weeks had some business matters with him and went to the field where he was working. After the customary exchange of greetings Mr. Carlson began to complain of not feeling well, that he had a pain in the chest. Mr. Weeks enquired whether he had felt the pain before or not to which he replied in the negative. He continued to complain, stating that he had to quit work and go home. As he was in the act of pulling off his husking peg he was seen to waver and before Mr. Weeks summoned his wife and other help and a doctor was called but there was nothing to be done and with the aid of neighbors he was carried back to the home which he left only a short time before, apparently as well as ever.

Mr. Carlson had lived the major part of his life in this vicinity and had a big circle of acquaintances to where the news came as a distinct shock. He was an elderly man and had attained an age of over sixty years.

Funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the Bethlehem church, burial being made in the Palestine cemetery.

OBITUARY OF SVEN CARLSON

Was 68 Years Old and Had Been Married Twice. Survived by Wife and One Son.

Sven Carlson, whose sudden death was chronicled in these columns last week, was born March 14th, 1849, and died October 15th, 1917. He was married twice, the second time to Miss Christina Peterson of southeast of town who with one son, Carl, survive him. He had lived the major part of his life in the community where he resided at the time of his death and was a kind, helpful neighbor and a law abiding citizen. Funeral was held from the Bethlehem church, Wednesday, the 17th and was conducted by Rev. N. O. Peterson. Burial was made in the Palestine cemetery.
