Mrs. Maria Thorson.

Tuesday evening, Dec. 14, 1897 at 8:30 the death angel summoned Mrs. Marie Thorson to her eternal home.

Her health had been tailing little by little the past five years. About one month ago she was taken bedfast and her demise had been expected hourly ever since as she was in a critical condition. She was born in Palestine township, Story county, Iowa on the 20th of May 1863, and was at her death 34 years, 6 months and 24 days of age. She was married to Gilbert Thorson March 15, 1885, who died April 26, 1892. They had four children two boys and two girls, one boy died in his infancy, the oldest boy and the girls remain to mourn the loss of loving parents. The deceased also leaves a kind and loving mother, two sisters and five brothers. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 17 at the residence at 1 o'clock and at the Lutheran church at 2 o'clock Rev. Huus and Rev. Tillitt officiating. Rev. Tillitt spoke in the English language after which Aimel A. Chader sang a solo, "Cast thy bread upon the water," in compliance with a request of the deceased. Her remains were laid to rest in the Slater cemetery awaiting the resurrection morn.
