Services Held for Mrs. Martin Romsa

Funeral services for Mrs. Elma Romsa were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the Riis Funeral Home with Pastor W. A. Adix of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating.

Mrs. Oliver Newman was the organist. She also accompanied the soloist, Nilus Ihle, who sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Pallbearers were Arnold Sydnes, Sherman Stensland, Paul Lee, Tilmer Sydnes, Elmer Richardson and Mike Mickelson.

Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Obituary

Elma Romsa, 80, daughter of Erik and Martha Sjostrom, was born Sept. 10, 1884 in Enviken, Dalarne, Sweden and passed away Aug. 27, 1965 at the Iowa Lutheran Home in Madrid where she had resided the past year. Her parents died when she was young. She grew to womanhood in Sweden and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

In 1906 she came to the United States, and in 1908 was united in marriage to Martin Romsa. Two daughters were born to this union. Most of her life was spent in this community where the couple engaged in farming for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, in 1964 and one sister, Mrs. Anna Newman, in Sweden in 1961.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters, Mrs. Harriet Herzog of Baxter and Mrs. Mae Johnson of Madrid; six grandchildren; one brother, Adolph Seastrom of Boone; and three sisters, Mrs. Marie Hoaglund of Des Moines, Mrs. Louise Fraher of San Antonio, Tex., and Mrs. Signa Kirk of San Diego, Calif.; also many nieces and nephews, including two nieces and two nephews in Sweden.
