Services Tuesday for Mrs. Wm. Van Gundy

Funeral services for Mrs. Will Van Gundy were held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 2 p. m. Tuesday afternoon, Mar. 7 with the Rev. W. A. Adix in charge of the service. He chose as his sermon text, "The Resurrected Christ Makes the Difference," based on I Cor. 15:17-22.

Lester Moore was the soloist using as his selection "Sunrise Tomorrow" and "God Will Take Care of You." Mrs. Oliver Newman was the organist.'

Pallbearers were Irvin Houge, Lester Moore, Harley Moore, Billy Houge, Dorence Thomas and Richard Thornton.

Interment was at Slater Municipal Cemetery.

Lunch was served at the Methodist Church to relatives and friends after the services by the Methodist W. S. C. S.

Obituary

Hattie Christina Van Gundy was born on Aug. 30, 1892 to Peter and Celia Houge in McCook, Neb., and was taken from this life last Saturday evening, Mar. 4, in the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines where she had been taken earlier that day because of a heart attack.

In early youth she cane with her parents from Nebraska to this area which was her home since that time. In 1907 she was confirmed in the Lincoln Lutheran Church of Slater by the Rev. Simon Hanson and had never joined another church. She was united in marriage to Will Van Gundy at Nevada on Aug. 18, 1910. They lived in this community the 57 years since that time, sharing the various experiences of life in faithful companionship with each other. She was 74 years of age at the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband, Will Van Gundy; one daughter, Mrs. Lester (Myrtle) Kline of Nevada; two grandchildren; one brother William Houge of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Catherine Zenor of Des Moines; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
