Last Rites Held for Orville Swanson, 71

Last rites for Orville Swanson, 71, were held Thursday afternoon at the Riis Funeral Home at 2 o'clock.

Rev. James E. Bell, pastor of the Slater-Sheldahl Methodist Churches, was in charge. He based his message on the text, Rev. 22;3--"And his servants shall serve him."

Nilus Ihle sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Saved by Grace." He was accompanied by the pianist Mrs. Leonard Hines.

Pallbearers were Ingman Lundy, George Lundy, Clarence Davis, Kermit Johnson, Lewis Gilbert and King Schaudt.

Mrs. Ray Hammond and Mrs. Ruth Lilland cared for the flowers.

Interment was in the Slater Municipal Cemetery.

Obituary

Orville Lewis Swanson was born Nov. 21, 1891 at Irvington, Ia. and passed away Sept. 24, 1962, at Slater.

When he was a year old, he moved to Gilbert with his parents, Noah and Lacy Swanson, where he grew to Gilbert High School and attended the Congregational Church there.

He was united in marriage to Millie Queensland on Aug. 12, 1916. To this union was born one son, Dale. The family moved to Slater in 1928.

Mr. Swanson is survived by his wife, Millie, and son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Swanson, and six grandchildren. A brother, Hobert, who lives in California, also survives, in addition to several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers.
