Obituary of Lemuel Allen

Lemuel Allen was born at McGregor, Ia., on June 330, 1884, the son of Hans Allen and his wife, Anna. Apparently he was received early in life into the fellowship of the Triune God through Holy Baptism. He confirmed faith on Dec. 4, 1898 at the Norwegian Lutheran Church at McGregor.

On Aug. 24, 1911 he was united in marriage to Agnes Hohman and thereafter engaged in farming in the McGregor community. In 1920 he came to this community and has lived in this part of the state since that time. He was energetic and tireless in his work and loved the outdoors. He became a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. His wife was take from his side in 1931. For some time he had been in failing health and went to the Boone County Home early in March of this year and passed away Friday, Dec. 20 at the Boone County Hospital at between 79 and 80 years of age.

He is survived by one son, Arnold Allen of Ames, and a daughter, Dorothy (Mrs. Paul Bollie of Madrid), eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther (Mrs. A. Fritz of near McGregor) and Mrs. Katharine Tornes of Evanston, Ill.; and one brother, John Allen, of West Union.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one grandson Robert John Bollie, nine brothers and sisters.
