George A. Pierce, 73, of Story City, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Bethany Life, in Story City.

A private service will be held at a later date at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

George Anthony Pierce was born on September 6, 1949, in Casablanca Morocco Africa to Anita Rosalie Rodriguez and Antonio Natera. As a child, George immigrated to the United States and became a citizen.

He earned his high school diploma and attended Southern Illinois University earning his Bachelor's Degree in theater. George loved the arts and was an avid reader. He performed in various theatrical productions while attending college.

Following graduation from SIU, in the midst of the Vietnam War, George joined the military. Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Maria Luisa Hernandez Pierce and they wed on August 6, 1973. George and Maria welcomed three children together. He went on to serve our country honorably over a career spanning 20 years until his retirement in 1992.

After completing his military career, George decided to further his education and pursue his passion of computer technology. He received his Master's degree in Public Administration from Jacksonville State University. George accepted a teaching position at a technical college in El Paso, Texas. Upon retirement, George felt strongly that he wanted to be close to his grandkids, so he and Maria settled in Iowa.

George is survived by his wife, Maria Luisa Pierce of Story City, Iowa; his son, James Geoffrey Pierce (Lora Pierce) of Akron, Iowa; his daughter, Crystal Anita Burns (Robert Burns) of Story City, Iowa; his daughter, Rachel Elizabeth Pierce (Audrey) of El Paso, Texas; his brother, James Pierce of Dublin, California; his sister, Joyce Lockamy; granddaughters, Ashley Nicole Burns, Allison Marie Burns, Reyna Jean Pierce, Suri Luisa Pierce, Devi Anabelle Pierce, and Vada Jaymes Pierce; and many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita Rosalie Pierce and brother, Geoffrey Otis Pierce.
