Andrew R. Egeland Services Held Monday

Funeral services for Andrew R. Egeland of Huxley were held Monday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. in the Palestine Lutheran Church.

Pastor Ernest Thompson officiated, using the text, Luke 2:29-32.

Ingeborg Thorsness sang a Norwegian solo, "Ingen er soa trygg for fare," "Children of The Heavenly Father"). Organist was Mrs. Noel Larson. The congregation sang, "Saved By Grace."

Pallbearers were Walter Olson, Noble Twedt, S. B. Sheldahl, Herbert Halverson, Palmer Anderson and Elman Sheldahl.

Burial was in the Palestine Cemetery at Huxley.

Obituary

Andrew R. Egeland was born July 6, 1888 in Vats, Norway. He was the son of Rasmus and Kari Eikeland. He passed away at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, July 30, at the age of 88 years.

In 1911 Mr. Egeland married Olava Kvale of Haugesund, Norway. As a young carpenter he came to America with his wife and small son. The Slater and Huxley vicinity became their home. Four daughter and another son were born to them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by: his wife, Olava Egeland; two sons, Alexander and Robert of Maxwell; four daughters, Alma and Mildred Egeland of Huxley, Ruth Harrigan of Sierra Leone, Africa, Rebecca Larson of Woodworth, Wis.; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren. In Norway he is survived by: two brothers, Lambrick and Thorwald of Vats; one sister, Liva Mortensen of Haugesund.

Mr. Egeland's main interest in life was to be a living witness for Jesus Christ, whom he loved and served. His family treasures his memory and his Christian influence upon their lives.
