AGED CITIZEN IS CALLED BY DEATH
Tom Rasmussen, a Respected Citizen of Advanced Years, Passed Away Sunday, Funeral Tuesday.
The death of Tom Rasmussen occurred last Sunday morning about tea o'clock after a brief illness. Deceased had for many years made his home with his son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Brown, three miles west of Sheldahl where the death occurred.
Mr. Rasmussen was in his usual health until about a week before his death when he was taken sick and went in to a coma from which he did not recover. He reached the advanced age of 84 years, 7 months and 25 days, being born at Skudesnes, Norway, Feb. 2, 1824. At the age of thirty-three he was married to Miss Anjer Tesdahl with whom he emigrated to America in 1872. They settled in Story county where they since continued to reside till death entered the home and took the wife to the other shore about thirty years ago. Six children were born to the union, four sons and two daughters. These all survive. Mr. Rasmussen was formerly a resident of Sheldahl, but at the time Slater was started and the greater part of Sheldahl was moved to the new location he moved here where he resided until he became too feeble to care for himself.
He was a well known personality in the town and when he came in as he did occasionally, he was cordially greeted and enjoyed a pleasant chat with friends.
Funeral services were held at the Norwegian church Tuesday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. Hanson after which the remains were taken to the Tesdall cemetery two miles north of town where interment was made.
